Meet the Team

From a very young age it was obvious to everyone that Kate would work with animals in some way.

After secondary school work experience, where she completed a week at a local dog grooming salon, Kate was hooked on grooming as a career. She pursued this path with great dedication, working at boarding kennels for 7 years to gain experience and animal care qualifications. It was from this establishment that Kate started her grooming career.

Over the next few years Kate continued to manage the kennels and run the grooming business.

In 2002 Kate sat and passed the City and Guilds 7750 exams. She then worked for a further two years as a full time groomer at another local grooming salon.

In the summer of 2004 Kate decided it was time to set up a business from her home town of Winchcombe and Cottage Canine Grooming was formed.

The business started up with Kate by herself and she is now supported by three staff members. She is always striving to build on her canine knowledge and pass this on to staff, having now passed three units of her higher diploma in City and Guilds and gained her Licentiateship. Kate continually works on her qualifications and believes that this offers her customers the best service possible.

In Kate’s spare time she is ‘owned by’ a Border Collie called Nell, two Border Terriers - mother and daughter Tink & Tilly, and the now adopted Fergus, the West Highland white Terrier. Time allowing Nell likes to compete in agility competitions although she feels that Kate’s speed around the course could be improved.

Kate lives with her husband Alastair in Winchcombe and they enjoy the country life with their dogs.
